Under the Prime Minister’s Directive, EDCL Provides Jobs to 74 Family Members of Victims of Enforced Disappearances, Killings, and July Mass Uprising Martyrs and Injured
Under the directive of the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the specific guidance of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 74 members of families affected by enforced disappearances and killings, as well as families of martyrs and injured individuals of the July Mass Uprising, have been provided employment at Essential Drugs Company Limited (EDCL).
The initiative was carried out under the direct guidance and overall supervision of EDCL Managing Director and CEO A. K. M. Ashrafuzzaman, who took special measures to ensure that the necessary administrative and official procedures were completed promptly and efficiently.
Prime Minister Hands Appointment Letters to 10 Representatives
On 29 August 2026 (Saturday), at a humanitarian event held at Karabi Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Tarek Rahman personally handed over EDCL appointment letters to 10 representatives of the 74 newly appointed individuals.
Addressing the অনুষ্ঠানে, the Prime Minister expressed his determination to work with the utmost sincerity to fulfil the goals and aspirations of those who made sacrifices for the country.
A Humanitarian Initiative Under the Leadership of EDCL MD & CEO
EDCL Managing Director and CEO A. K. M. Ashrafuzzaman considers standing beside families who have made sacrifices for the country and creating employment opportunities for them an important humanitarian and social responsibility.
Under his leadership, EDCL gave priority to completing the recruitment process efficiently and within the shortest possible time. His direct guidance and overall supervision ensured coordinated action among the relevant administrative and departmental authorities.

- Moniruzzaman Hira — Brother of Nuruzzaman Jony
- Anan Hossain Noor — Brother of Anwar Hossain Mahbub
- Hasnain Reza — Brother of Selim Reza Pintu
- Shammi Sultana — Wife of Khaled Hossain Sohel
- Alal Ahmed — Visually impaired injured participant of the July Mass Uprising
- Md. Abul Hossain / Momtaz Hossain — Father of martyr Alvi
- Zartaj Parveen — Mother of martyr Ahnaf
- Kazi Saimum Siraj — Injured participant of the July Mass Uprising
- Mahbub Alam — Brother of Israfil Islam
The recipients expressed their profound gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister for this humanitarian initiative.
The অনুষ্ঠানটি was conducted by Atikur Rahman Ruman, Convener of ‘Amra BNP Poribar’ and Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister.
Among others, Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister ABM Abdus Sattar, Press Secretary Saleh Shibli, and senior government officials were present at the event.
